Chris Mosser takes the KVET reins every weekday afternoon from 3pm to 7pm! Chris was born and raised in Lubbock, and got his radio start there at KRLB "FM-99" and later at the legendary Hub City rock station, 94.5 FMX. Chris was also playing bass guitar for a heavy metal band called Human at that time, and relocated with the band to Austin in 1993. He has been a staple of the Austin radio and live music scene ever since, and is thus in hog heaven. Chris has arguably played more Austin and Texas music on Austin's radio waves than any other radio dude in town!
When he's not sleeping or yapping on the radio, Chris enjoys spending time with his beautiful family, exploring Austin's restaurants, movie theaters and live music venues, building stuff (badly), experimenting with new and exotic cocktail recipes, cooking competition-grade Texas chili and setting things on fire in his backyard.
Lifetime Longhorn Kevin Durant has done Longhorn Nation right proud - he's made a $1 million donation to the American Red Cross as they begin recovery efforts in his Oklahoma City Thunder's neighborhood. All Texas sports fans should follow suit and make a $10 donation to the same cause - very easy to do, text the word "REDCROSS" to 90999. More on Kevin's donation HERE.
There's a major outbreak of tornadoes tearing through Oklahoma and points northward right now...live coverage HERE.
I admit it - I've not been the biggest Kid Rock fan in the world. But, after last night, my appreciation for the man has definitely grown! I have major problems with shows like the Billboard Music Awards, not the least of which is all the lip-synching that goes on - aren't these people receiving awards for being good musicians? And the worst part is, most of us appear to be cool with it...but not Kid Rock. This was even better than Bieber getting booed...way to go bro!
Behold below the new video for the Randy Rogers Band's new single: FUZZY.
George Strait's "Give It All We Got Tonight" has officially become his 60th Number One single! Here's a message from The King, and a live performance of the song is below.
If you liked The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Men and O Brother, Where Art Thou?, you are officially a fan of the Coen Brothers. They have a new one on the way that is being hailed early as among their best work, which is definitely saying something: see below a first glimpse at Inside Llewyn Davis. WARNING, there's a little NSFW language here.
The Austin Chronicle is not a publication that is known for being especially friendly to country artists of the Texas/Red Dirt variety, so it is super cool to see the new Jason Boland and the Stragglers release Dark and Dirty Mile rank a 4-star review in that particular rag, read it HERE. Jason plays a somewhat rare solo gig at Wild West in Cedar Park on June 13 and the full band plays with Pat Green at Whitewater on August 3.
